World of Warcraft PvP

World of Warcraft PvPSome players of World of Warcraft will want to play mainly against the environment: killing monsters and going on quests. However, many others will want to engage in PvP (Player vs. Player). The level of PvP you experience will depend on your realm (i.e. server).

On Normal realms, you get decide if and when you get involved in PvP. You activate the PvP option from your charater menu. This allows you to participate when the occasion arises. You can only battle with another player in PvP if both of you have the PvP option toggled to on. This is great in that you can play without worry of being attacked by enemy players unless that is your goal. Many players leave the toggle to off unless they are involved in a pitched battle against others.

On World of Warcraft PvP realms, anywhere except the starter areas and the Capital cities allow for PvP. These realms provide for constant war against other factions. You are not allowed to have both an Alliance and a Horde character on a PvP realm. Because players are always fighting other players, it is sometimes hard to complete quests. You cannot be attacked on the PvP realm when you are in Green (friendly) territory unless you attack first or in dungeons.

These two, Normal World of Warcraft realms and World of Warcraft PvP realms, are mirrored in the Role Playing realms. However, the role-playing realms require you to stay in character the entire time.

Things to remember when playing on a PvP realm:

First and foremost always have eyes in the back of your head. In other words, pay attention at all times. PvP realms do not allow players to let their guard down.

Different classes fare differently when fighting each other. Each of the classes have strengths and weaknesses. For example, the World of Warcraft Paladin class is sometimes avoided in PvP. This is because paladins do not do a ton of damage. On the other hand, Paladins can take a lot of damage so if you have a lot of mana you can survive for quite some time allowing you to outlast many other classes you might be fighting.

You should also stay together and adventure in a group. If you are alone you should stay away from well-traveled roads. If you do not feel you can win, you can choose to stay or run away. If you do choose to run away, then you should use everything you can like hiding, swiftness potions, taking sudden turns, etc.

Remember that you must get the First Aid as a primary or secondary skill to survive. Have bandages when you travel and be prepared!

World of Warcraft PvP can be a lot of fun - especially when played on the role-playing server. Good luck.
